Krakow – Mila off to Gabi’s

TLDR – Quick Krakow trip to deliver Mila to her bestie Gabi for two weeks. I stayed the night after devliery, got drenched in old town and flight was delayed 3 hours. Worth it for MIla.

Mila off to Gabi’s for a few weeks

Flew into Krakow last night with Mila to deliver her to Gabi. Gabi moved back to Poland three years ago, but the two of them are still best mates. They talk almost every day on video chat, play games together, send snaps, all of it. When we were young, someone moved a few blocks away and they were vanished. Letter writing worked for a bit, but long-distance phone calls cost money and you definitely were not talking every day. Pretty impressive to me that these two have kept the friendship alive all this time.

Flight out to Krakow was delayed an hour. We did not land until 0030. Gabi was waiting for us at the gate; the screams and hugs were epic. The Gabi family dropped me in Krakow at my apartment for the night. Mila is off for two weeks of adventures now. They have already sent out loads of pictures and snaps.

Rainy Krakow dad day

Been a miserable travel day for me. It rained most of the day. Tried hiding under trees for some of the lashing, but it was too much; I’m drenched toes sloshing in the puddles in my shoes.  Ended up in a playground hiding under a slide for half an hour.

Did manage a few dry walks around old town Krakow and some local foods. It’s a Gorgeous old city. I am in a mall right now hiding from the rain and trying to dry before I walk to the train station, catch the train to the airport, and hide in the airport lounge for a few hours.

Back here in two weeks to collect Mila. She turned 14 last week and can kind of fly on her own if we find the right airline and a direct flight. Sadly, the right airline only has a Christmas Dublin-to-Krakow flight, not a summer one.

Hope it is better weather next time and hope Mila has an amazing time with her bestie. Would do anything for the kids.
